[Gregory is going to ignore that taxi driver for now, because this is important.]
Miles, is there something you're not telling me concerning this detective? Be honest with me, unless you wish to wait until we've reached your home. [Because that Taxi driver...]
[Ugh...that driver will get a tip the size of his own little finger nail if he isn't careful. Miles gives him a brief glare before turning to his father.]
Is there any reason why you are so interested in Detective Gumshoe, may I ask? [Nooope. Does. Not. Get. It.]
Well, you see... [He doesn't see what the problem was? Perhaps he was mishearing what his son was saying...] you just seem to be implying there's something else going on concerning this detective.
"Here pops, I'll ask it for you." [The taxi driver suddenly pipes in, probably unable to hide his amusement by this whole conversation. Greg didn't seem too please about the taxi driver speaking up and catching on.]
"He's asking if you and this detective are an item. You catch my drift?"
[The taxi driver bursts out laughing once Mr. Frills finally got the memo. Greg on the other hand was relieved his interpretation of what Miles said was off basis...of course now he had embarrassed his son.]
I-I apologize, I did not mean to imply. You were just rather vague about your [...] working relations with this detective.
[And the driver laughed even louder at Greg's statement. Greg is sooo sorry for this.]
[The driver wasn't laughing as hard anymore, but fallen into fits of snickering.]
...Let's not discuss this further and forget it was ever brought up. [It was a misunderstanding and there was no point in making this even worse than it already was. At least they were almost at their destination now.]
[Yes, to the house! And quite a house it is! It was hard for Greg not to be taken aback by how well off Miles was as they went through the security gate of his home. That's not to say they didn't have money problems. They had a comfortable lifestyle, but this was far more than what his budget was.
Once the taxi drove through the rather large front yard and were at the front steps of Miles' home, Greg exits to have a better look of the place.
Miles lived here by himself with just a dog? Why does anyone need a house as big as this anyway...?]
[Well, a maid who used to work for the Von Karma's does come in to clean. But other than that yeah, he's often by himself with his dog.
Thank god the house is really clean. Miles is certainly miles from being a slob but the fact that his father is visiting him is making the young man extra nervous.
Anyway, Miles says something and pays the taxi driver the exact amount - with no tip, of course, which makes the driver scowl - and gets out of the car.]
[Edgeworth nods as he opens the door into what looks like a rather large and neatly-kept hallway. A small table sits on one side with a large mirror hanging above it with a plant in a large ceramic pot on the other side. Yeah, the mun is really uncreative when it comes to pretentious homes. Suddenly, a golden flat-coated retriever suddenly rushes in, barking loudly.
She sees Gregory, sniffs him a little and then her tail wags even faster. She likes you, Greg!]
Don't mind her. As I said, she gets excited easily but she is a good dog.
[Gregory just smiles at the excitable Pess and kneels down to pet her behind the ears.]
She's been very well cared for. Haven't you, Pess? [An excitable dog is better than one that doesn't react at all] Is there someplace I can hang my coat and hat?
Mm. Tea would be nice. If you have ceylon, I would love to have that.
[Greg didn't seem to notice Miles was struggling to welcome his father. He straighten up and took his hat off.] Can you wait a moment while I hang these?
I should have plenty of that. [And he started to head into the back rooms, Pess trotting behind. A part of him, the nine year-old Miles Edgeworth, wanted to go back to his father and hug him tightly so that he would not disappear again.
But the older Miles Edgeworth was stubborn. He was going to get through this, tell his father what happened and be all dignified......
And maybe cry alone later.
When Miles finally entered the kitchen, he felt Pess nuzzle against his right leg. He patted her on the head for comfort, breathing in and out deeply, preparing not to break down in front of his father...
Wait, he forgot the tea!
Miles quickly starts brewing some. He shouldn't be long, Gregory.]

[HOW OLD ARE YOU AGAIN NOW, SON?
The taxi will arrive shortly after and Greg recalls something that happened a little before they arrived at the courthouse.]
Did you happen to hear from that detective again? Gumshoe was his name, wasn't it?

D-did I really give that impression.....? [And when the taxi man laughs, Miles gives him a sharp glare to get him to shut up. DEFINITELY NO TIP.
Still ASJDFLKJDSAFK his father ACTUALLY THOUGHT THAT?]
